Julie Tato has practiced Insight meditation since 1988, primarily with Sharon Salzberg, Marcia Rose and other western teachers, and in the Tibetan tradition with Tsoknyi Rinpoche. She has lead meditation for over 20 years, with a particular interest in LovingKindness and other Brahma Vihare practices, as a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction instructor, with people recovering from grief & loss, and using the Mindful Schools program for children and teens.
Based in Taos, New Mexico, home of the Red Willow people, she has studied and completed numerous retreats in the U.S. and Asia. Julie has worked throughout Northern New Mexico as a hospice chaplain and with people with disabilities and their families. She has a long history living and working in spiritual community, including the Lama Foundation and the Insight Meditation Society (IMS).
Her personal practice also includes devotional and land-based spirituality from a variety of traditions.
